It’s Your Legacy

Make a Lasting Impact on your Community

Include Cascade AIDS Project in Your Estate Plan

Cascade AIDS Projects supports and empowers all people living with or affected by HIV, reduces stigma, and provides the LGBTQ+ community and beyond with compassionate healthcare.  If you would like to invest in the continued fight against HIV or support the expansion of inclusive and affirming care, you can include Cascade AIDS Project in your estate plan. Here are a few options:

Bequests

The easiest way to include Cascade AIDS Project in your estate plan would be through a bequest. You can designate a specific gift or a percentage of the remainder of your estate to Cascade AIDS Project in your will.

If you do not have a will, you should seek legal counsel to assist you. If you already have a will, your attorney can assist in amending the will or adding a codicil to make the gift. Your attorney is likely to ask for the formal name of the organization and to determine the tax-deductibility of gifts to the organization. Here is some sample language you can provide the attorney:

I give to Cascade AIDS Project, an Oregon nonprofit corporation (Tax ID #93-0903383) recognized as exempt from tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended, with its principal offices located at 520 NW Davis Street, Suite 215, Portland, Oregon, [all (or ___%) of my residuary estate} or {the sum of $______} to be used for its general purposes.

Beneficiary Designation

You can also make a gift to Cascade AIDS Project by designating Cascade AIDS Project as a beneficiary on your retirement plan such as a 401(k), 403(b), or IRA. The designation can be for any percentage of your account. You usually fill this out when you are hired. You can change the designation either by contacting your company’s human resource department or by contacting the plan administrator directly.
