Mental & Behavioral Health

Prism Health also provides general mental and behavioral health counseling services, as well as mental health specialist referrals. Prism Health is staffed with providers who specialize in compassionate, high-quality primary care for LGBTQ+ individuals. You don’t have to be a LGBTQ+ to receive services at Prism Health. We are an encouraging and welcoming practice and we’re excited to provide services to anyone, regardless of orientation or identity.

Additionally, participants in a CAP housing program or on CAP’s housing waitlist, are eligible to receive counseling through a Cascadia mental health provider embedded at CAP’s Davis Street office. Referrals are made internally by CAP staff in conjunction with the participant.

Amazing care. I am a complex patient and my case was handled so well. Absolutely wonderful and respectful.

Our Behavioral Health Services

  • There are many reasons why it may be difficult and uncomfortable to share sensitive and personal information with your mental health provider. At CAP, our Behavioral Health team strives to make these conversations and experiences more comfortable so that you feel accepted and heard.

Our providers, who specialize in LGBTQIA+ issues are dedicated to increasing affordable, accessible, and compassionate care for the our community. We recognize the unique and systemic challenges our community faces and how your sexual orientation and gender identity can impact your overall mental health and wellbeing. We offer queer, gender affirming, and trauma informed therapeutic approaches tailored to fit the diverse needs of individuals, groups, couples, and families either in-person or by telehealth.

  • When struggling with mental health, it can feel very isolating at times. With the addition of groups to our programming here at CAP, we wanted to create a healing space to come together and share our unique experiences, strengths, and hopes while gaining new skills that help promote long-term healing and recovery. You can learn about all of our current group programming in the “Our Behavioral Health Groups” below.

  • At CAP, we know that our most significant and intimate relationships are oftentimes the most impactful and important parts of our lives, both in positive and negative ways. We also know that relationships get hard and sometimes need outside help. We mindfully and positively attune to our clients diverse gender identities, sexualities, and relational styles (i.e. polyamory, monogamy, open relationships, relational anarchy, etc.) and identify where there are areas of growth, and areas that we can build upon. We believe that every significant relationship, be it between partners or family members, are worthy of working on and having a space for a “reset” towards better intimacy and communication. We proudly offer this support in the form of couples, marital, and/or family counseling.

  • If you are planning surgery as part of your transition journey, our Behavioral Health team can help you access care by assessing your needs, providing educational information, and gender affirming letters of support.
