October 11th marks Coming Out Day, an effort started over three decades ago. The day was started by Rob Eichberg, a psychologist and gay rights activist, and Jean O'Leary, the head of National Gay Rights Advocates at the time. They wanted to "create a holiday that celebrated queer identities in order to decrease stigma and homophobia,"

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General has issued an alert to the public about fraud schemes related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Scammers are using telemarketing calls, text messages, social media platforms, and door-to-door visits to perpetrate COVID-19-related scams.

We are excited to announce we are offering expanded HIV care services at Prism Health. We know better than anyone how quality care and treatment can help those living with HIV maintain an undetectable viral load, but more than that, we also understand how to navigate and coordinate care that you need to not only live, but to thrive. Our providers work collaboratively with you to help you achieve your overall health goals, and we are committed to providing affirming and stigma free care.

Prism Health is Oregon’s first and only lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, plus all other gender and sexual minorities (LGBTQ+) primary care clinic. As of May 2018, Prism has been open for one full year. To commemorate the event, Prism Health is having a One-Year Anniversary Open House Thursday May 24th 4:30 to 6:30 pm at 2236 SE Belmont Street, Portland. No RSVP necessary.

The program will establish a Family Mental Health Program for LGBTQ+ individuals and families at Oregon’s first LGBTQ+ primary health care clinic, Prism Health. The program addresses the comprehensive set of mental health needs faced by the LGBTQ+ community, and aims to bring on a mental health specialist with significant experience with the LGBTQ+ community.

CAP is proud to announce that it has been awarded $113,000 from Meyer Memorial Trust to assess and pursue Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) status for Prism Health. The two-year grant will allow the agency to bring on a consultant to help CAP and Prism leadership explore what it takes to become an FQHC, then make the requisite improvements to systems and processes, and ultimately complete the involved application process.

This allocation of $1M in lottery bonds for Prism Health is a significant statement of support for the LGBTQ+ community from the state legislature and our Governor,” said CAP’s Executive Director, Tyler TerMeer. “We are honored and humbled by this show of trust in the work we are doing to provide safe, affirming, and culturally effective health care to the LGBTQ+ community.

Multnomah County has worked alongside CAP for three decades to serve the LGBTQ community,” said Chair Deborah Kafoury. “We’ve fought stigma together, we’ve fought for equity together, and we are proud to support this effort to further reduce barriers and increase access to health care.

“We are honored that the Collins Foundation has made this generous investment in Prism Health.” Said CAP’s Executive Director, Tyler TerMeer. “This is a clear commitment by Collins to health equity in the LGBTQ+ community, and the health and well-being of Oregonians overall. Through Prism Health, we will remove barriers, improve access, and most importantly provide quality health care for all LGBTQ+ patients across the Portland metropolitan area.”

Cascade AIDS Project (CAP) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded $15,000 from the Kaiser Permanente and $24,500 from the Miller Charitable Fund at The Oregon Community Foundation to support the opening of CAP’s LGBTQ+ Primary Care Health Center: Prism Health.

In commemoration of World AIDS Day, CAP announced that it has adopted a new mission statement to enable the agency to better serve its existing clients and expand services to provide direct medical services to the broader LGBTQ+ community through the creation of a new LGBTQ+ Primary Care Center slated to open in early 2017.

Cascade AIDS Project is pleased to announce that it has been awarded $50,000 from AIDS United Sector Transformation Grant and $5,000 from the Pride Foundation to support the creation and operation of an LGBTQ+ Primary Care Health Center.

Cascade AIDS Project (CAP) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded $100,000 from the City of Portland to support the opening of an LGBTQ+ focused primary care health center. The grant was awarded through the City Special Appropriation Fund and unanimously approved by City Council on September 28, 2016.

CAP was thrilled to announce at its 28th Annual Art Auction that Bill Dickey owner of Morel Ink and long-time CAP supporter will donate $50,000 in support of CAP’s recently unveiled lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) primary medical care clinic.

Slated to open in early 2017 and conveniently located at 2236 SE Belmont Street in Portland, Oregon, the clinic will offer a safe, affirming, and non-judgmental space where all members of the LGBTQ community can obtain the compassionate and culturally effective health care they need and deserve.
