Cascade AIDS Project (CAP) proudly hosted its 21st Annual Art Evening and Auction on Saturday, May 1, at the historic Bison Building, 419 NE 10th Avenue, Portland OR 97232.

Every year since 1990 CAP has hosted an art auction and party to raise money to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS and provide services to those infected and affected by HIV in our community. Portland's art community first organized the event, and they remain the backbone of the Art Evening and Auction today. The event has grown over the past two decades from a small affair to a cornerstone event on Portlanders' social calendar. The Annual Art Evening and Auction now encompasses over 225 works of art and well over a thousand guests.

The evening included a Patron dinner, oral and silent auctions, and a party that drew out the very best of the Northwest: the most captivating art, most delicious food, and most fascinating people. Last year, over 1,200 guests -- from artists to socialites to politicians to drag queens -- put on their partying best to help stem the tide of HIV/AIDS.

The Annual Art Evening and Auction happens in two parts: during the Patron Event, guests enjoy a reception of hors d'oeuvres and cocktails while they peruse the special silent auction. Then, they sit down to a delicious dinner during which the oral auction takes place. Later, more guests join the fun at the Grand Event for an extensive silent auction, live entertainment, and the best hors d'oeuvres, desserts, and drinks in town!

Since 1990, the Annual Art Evening & Auction has raised over $4.4 million to support CAP's mission:
To prevent HIV infections, support and empower people affected and infected by HIV/AIDS, and eliminate HIV/AIDS-related stigma.
